So he made 18 muffins for each of his friends and he has none left

so it can be divided by:

    2 friends ... 18/2 = 9 ... each getting 9 muffins

    3 friends ... 18/3 = 6 ... each getting 6 muffins

    6 friends ... 18/6 = 3 ... each getting 3 muffins

    9 friends ... 18/9 = 2 ... each getting 2 muffins

    18 friends ... 18/1 = 18 ... each getting 1 muffin
