Gina is planting a garden in her backyard. The length of the garden is 3 times its width. The garden is also enclosed by a perimeter of 32 meters (32m) of fencing. How wide is Gina's garden, in meters?

    l=3w

    2l+2w=32.

    this are the two equations you can use to solve for the answer.

    since l is 3w the second equation becomes 2 (3w) + 2w=32.

    2 times 3w is 6w. So 6w+2w is 8w.

    You are left with 8w=32 divide both by 8 and the answer is w=4.
