In few words: Organometallic chemistry the study of the organometallic compounds.

See below for an extended description and explanation.

    Explanation:

Organometallic chemistry is a subfield of the organic chemistry that studies the organometallic compounds.

The organometallic compounds are molecules that contain metal-carbon bonds.

The Grignard reagents conform a very important group of substances formed by a hydrocarbon chain with magnesium and a halogen: R-Mg-X. For instance, CH₃CH₂MgBr.

In general, the organometallic chemistry includes the study of the structure, the synthesis, the reactivity and the special use in catalytic processes, of the organometallic compounds.
