    The bank owes Hilary $223.

You can find the answer by multiplying $16 by 8, to find how much money the bank mistakenly charged Hilary for eight months.

Then, multiply $19 by 5, to find how much money the bank mistakenly charged Hilary for 5 months.

To find the total amount that the bank charged Hilary in the total 13 months, add the sums from both equations.

    $16*8 = $128.

    $19*5 = $95.

    $128 + $95 = $223.
