    two consecutive integers: x, x+1

    x + (x+1) = 9 (x) - 5 (x+1)

    2x+1 = 9x-5x-5

    2x+1 = 4x-5

    subtract 2x from each side

    1 = 2x-5

    add 5 to each side

    6 = 2x

    divide by 2

    x=3

    the integers are 3 and 4
