The length of a rectangle is 4 less than three times its width. The perimeter is 72 feet. What are the dimensions of the rectangle?

    Say width equals x.

    Length = 3x - 4

    Solve for x: 72 = 2 (3x - 4) + 2x

    72=6x-8+2x

    80=8x

    X=10

    So width = 10

    Length = 3 (10) - 4 = 26
