Vivian is going to do some yard work, but she needs to leave her house at 1:00 to go to a football game. She is going to mow the lawn for 1 hour and 10 minutes, trim some bushes for 30 minutes, and put down some mulch for 35 minutes. She will also need 20 minutes to shower and get dressed. What time should she start the work so she will be ready at 1:00?

Add up all the work/clean hours and subtract from 1:00

    1 hour + 10 minutes + 30 minutes + 35 minutes + 20 minutes

    add the 10 + 30 + 20 to get 60 minutes = 1 hour

    2 hours + 35 minutes

subtract 2 hours from 1:00 and get 11:00

Subtract 35 minutes from 11:00 and get 10:25

    11:25 i think

one hour and ten minutes for the yard work plus her time for her shower is an hour and a half, plus the 30 minutes for the bushes. then the 35 minutes needed for the mulch.
