1) Tim earns $12 per hour as head lifeguard at Sammy's Swim Park. As a first year lifeguard Jack earns 30% less than Tim, and as a second year lifeguard Jim earns $1 more per hour than Jack. Which expression represents how much Jim earns? (h represents hours)

    T = tims ... J = Jacks ... X = Jims

    T = 12h

    J = 0.70 (12h) ... 30% less is the same as 70% of Tims pay

    X = 0.70 (12h) + 1 or could be : X = 8.4h + 1
