    x + 2 = 3

    1 x

    x (x + 2) = 3 (1)

    x (x) + x (2) = 3

    x² + 2x = 3

    x² + 2x - 3 = 0

    x = - 2 + / - √ (2² - 4 (1) (-3))

    2 (1)

    x = - 2 + / - √ (4 + 12)

    2

    x = - 2 + / - √ (16)

    2

    x = - 2 + / - 4

    2

    x = - 1 + 2

    x = - 1 + 2 x = - 1 - 2

    x = 1 x = - 3
