    16x = 50 - 14y

    -7x = 77 - 14y

    Rewrite the first equation.

    Multiply the second equation by - 1 and write under the first equation.

    Then add the equations.

    16x = 50 - 14y

    7x = - 77 + 14y

    Add to get:

    23x = - 27

    x = - 27/23

    Now substitute this value of x in the first original equation and solve for y.

    16x = 50 - 14y

    16 (-27/23) = 50 - 14y

    -432/23 = 1150/23 - 14y

    -1582/23 = - 14y

    y = 113/23

    -27/23, 113/23
