One number is x

second number is x+1

x² + (x+1) ²=85

x²+x²+2x+1=85

2x²+2x-84=0

x²+x-42=0

(x+7) (x-6) = 0

x=-7, x=6

we need positive number, so we take 6

x=6

x+1=7
