Suppose that 9 green balls and 14 purple balls are placed in an urn. Two balls are then drawn in succession. What is the probability that the second ball drawn is a purple ball if the first ball is replaced before the second is drawn?

    14/23, or approximately 60.87% Since the first ball is replaced before the second is drawn, the two events are independent. And the probability of the second ball being purple is the percentage of the balls that are purple in the urn. The total number of balls is 9+14 = 23 and 14 of those balls are purple, so 14/23 = probability of the second ball drawn being purple. It's approximately 0.608695652, or 60.87%
