To round to the nearest tenth, look to the right of the decimal place. The first place to the right of the decimal is the tenths place. The next place over is the hundredths. If the number in the hundreds place is 5 or greater then the number in the tens place will be rounded up a number. In this case, the number 7 is more than 5 so the 5 in the tens place will round up to 6. 8.57 will be 8.6
