An ordinary deck of playing cards has 52 cards. There are four suitslong dash spades, hearts, diamonds, and clubslong dashwith 13 cards in each suit. Spades and clubs are black; hearts and diamonds are red. If one of these cards is selected at random, what is the probability that it is a. a jack ? b. black ? c. not a club ?

    A) 1 jack of each suit = 4 jacks/52 cards = 1/13 probability

    B) half the deck is black = 1/2 probability

    C) 1/4 of the deck are clubs, probability not being a club = 3/4 probability
