Use the distributive property to express 40 + 64
Distributive property is a (b+c)
We need to express 40+64 in a (b+c) form
First we write the numbers using greatest common factor
40 and 64 are divisible by 2 or 4 or 8
Greatest common factor is 8
40 can be written as 8 * 5
64 can be written as 8*8
40 + 64 = (8*5) + (8 * 8)
Now we take out 8 that is in common
(8*5) + (8 * 8) = 8 (5 + 8)
8 (5 + 8) is the distributive property to express 40 + 64
