3 (x-1) = 2x+9. If i multiply 3 by - 1 do I get - 3 or 3?

    3 (x - 1) = 2x + 9

    3 (x) - 3 (1) = 2x + 9

    3x - 3 = 2x + 9

    - 2x - 2x

    x - 3 = 9

    + 3 + 3

    x = 12
