Certain paint is to be mixed with 3 parts yellow to 2 parts blue. Twelve gallons of mixed paint are needed.

    Quantity of mixed paints that is needed to be made = 12 gallons

    The ratio of yellow paint to blue paint that needs to be mixed = 3:2

    The above information's are of immense importance in respect to getting to the answer of this question.

    Let us assume the common ratio to be = x

    Then

    3x + 2x = 12

    5x = 12

    x = 12/5

    = 2.40

    Then

    The quantity of blue pain that is required to be mixed = 3 * 2.4 gallons

    = 7.2 gallons

    From the above deduction we can easily conclude that the correct option among all the options given in the question is the third option.
