    Take the derivative with respect to x of both sides. You should obtain x-4 = (plus or minus sqrt (12).

    Case 1: if x-4=sqrt 12, then x-4=sqrt (4) sqrt (3) = 2sqrt (3). Then x=4+sqrt (3).
