There are two machines that produce aluminum cans. the newer machine can produce 7200 cans in 200 minutes. It takes the older machine 300 minutes to produce that same amount. if the two machines work together, how long will it take to produce 7200 cans?

    Ok first you have to figure out the amount of cans produced in a minute by the machines. So do 7200 divided by 200 and 7200 by 300 to get 36 Cans per minute on the new machine and 24 Cans per minute on the old one. So now we need to figure out an equation to figure out the amount of time needed to make 7200 cans with them working together which means addition. The equation will be 36x+24x=7200 which can be simplified to 60x=7200 and your answer for total amount of time will be in minutes. You should get 120 minutes.
