    You have to convert the fractions so that they have like terms.

    So 8/25 would become 64/400 when you multiply both numerator and denominator by 8.

    so 64 students would be expected to be travelling over spring break

    Ratio (students plans to travel over spring break to total students) = 8/25

    x=number of students had plans to travel over spring break

    y=number of sutdents didn't have plans to travel over sprin break.

    we can suggest this system of equation.

    x+y=400 ⇒ y=400-x

    x/y=8/25

    We can solve this system of equations by substitution method.

    x / (400-x) = 8/25

    25x=3200-8x

    25x+8x=3200

    33x=3200

    x=3200/33

    x=96.969696969 ... ≈97

    answer: I would expect 97 students will travel over spring break.
