A gardener is planting two types of trees:

Type A is 9 feet tall and grows at a rate of 3 inches per year.

Type B is 4 feet tall and grows at a rate of 7 inches per year.

Algebraically determine exactly how many years it will take for these trees to be the same height.

    9 + 13x = 6 + 19x since x is same variable (year)

    9 - 6x = 6

    -6x = - 3

    x = 1/2 yr or 6 months
