There is a marker every 1/4 mile alone a street. The total distance is equal to 10miles. In order for us to know the number of markers covered in that distance, we need to divide 1/4 to 10.

    So,

    =10 miles / (1/4) miles

    =10 * 4

    = 40

So there are 40 markers all in all.
