Do distributive property to get rid of the parenthesis
3x + 3 = - 2x + 2 + 6
combine like terms
3x + 3 = - 2x + 8
move the - 2x over by addition
5x + 3 = 8
move the 3 over by subtraction
5x = 5
now divide by 5
x = 1
