If (x+2) is a factor of 3x^2+14x+k, what is the value of k?

    If (x+2) is a factor of 3x^2+14x+k, the equation must equal zero when x=-2 so:

    3 (-2) ^2+14 (-2) + k=0

    12-28+k=0

    -16+k=0

    k=16
