    Here it is: - 7/3 = - 2 1/3 and 9/-4 = - 2 1/4

    Inorder to add these two mixed numbers you would have to find the lowest common denominator (lcd). For this problem the the lcd = 12.

    -2 1/3 = - 2 4/12 and - 2 1/4 = - 2 3/12

    Therefore, - 2 4/12 + - 2 3/12 = - 4 5/12 (you are able to add both mixed numbers sinse the lcd are in common)
