What is the result of adding the system of equations? 2x + y = 4

3x - y = 6

    Just set it up like your average addition problem:

    2x + y = 4

    + 3x - y = 6

    then add one term at a time; work from left to right.

    5x = 10 is your result. your y's cancel out.
