We need to find the same denominator for 1/2 and 3/5 ...

    It's 1/2 = 5/10, 3/5 = 6/10

    Then, 5/10 + 6/10 = 11/10 = 1 and 1/10

Now to add the whole numbers.

    It's 2+2+1+1/10=5 1/10

She needed 5pounds of ground beef ...

    5 1/10 - 5 = 1/10 pounds

The answer: Yolanda has 1/10 pounds of ground beef left over.
