    From the information we have, singles court is 75% of double score.

    So we will say that the double score width is 100%.

    we now form an equation

    100% = 36

    75% = x

    where x is the width of singles court.

    100% can be written as 100/100 which is equivalent to 1

    75% can be written as 75/100 which is equivalent to 0.75

    Therefore

    1 = 36

    0.75 = x

    Cross multiply the equation:

    1 * x = 0.75 * 36

    x = 27

    There the singles court is 27 feet wide.
