Solve x+y=7 and 3x-2y=11 using elimination

    Multiply the first equation by - 3, and the second one by 1.

    add the equations to eliminate x.

    then solve for y by dividing both sides by - 5, which gives us 2.

    to solve for x subsitute 2 in for y.
