A merchant bought beef at $48 per 500 gram and he sold 2 kilograms at $36 per 500 gram. The customer gave the merchant 200 dollars. But he did not have change, so he exchanged the 200 with the neighbor. Neighbor found out the 200 was fake when he was trying to deposit into the bank. The merchant had to repay the 200 back to the neighbor. Question, how much money did the merchant lose in this transaction?
