The perimeter of a rectangle is 144 ft. The ratio of the width to the length is 3:5. Find the dimensions (length and width) of the rectangle.

    Perimeter=2legnth+2width

    width:legnth=3:5

    perimiter=2 (legnth+width)

    144=2 (legnth+width)

    divide both sides by 2

    72=legnth plus width

    3+5=8

    72/8=9

    3 times 9=width=27

    5 times 9=legnth=45

    width=27 ft

    legnth=45 ft
