    The number of bag of chips sold is 12 while the number of candy bar sold is 5

    Step-by-step explanation:

    The price of each bag of chips is $ 1.75

    The price of each candy bar is $ 1. Yesterday Ava made $ 26 from selling a total of 17 bags of chips and candy bars.

    Let the number of bag of chips be x

    Let the number of candy bar be y

    x+y=17

    $1.75x + $1y=$26

    Solving simultaneously by elimination method. We eliminate y by subtracting equation 1 from Equation 2

    1.75x-1x=0.75x

    1y-y=0

    26-17=9

    0.75x=9

    Divide by 0.75

    0.75x/0.75=9/0.75

    x=12

    Substitute for x in equation 1

    x+y=17

    12+y=17

    y=17-12

    y=5

    Hence the number of bag of chips is 12 while the number of candy bar is 5
