    y=-24

    Explanation:

    18 (5y+64) = 14 (2y+20)

    multiply both sides by 8:

    5y+64=2 (2y+20)

    multiply out brackets:

    5y+64=4y+40

    subtract 4y from both sides:

    y+64=40

    subtract 64:

    y=40-64=-24

    y = - 24
