So far, 37 miles of a new highway have been completed. This is one mile less than two thirds of the entire length. How long will the new highway be when complete?

    37 = 2/3x - 1

    37 + 1 = 2/3x

    38 = 2/3x

    38 / (2/3) = x

    38 * 3/2 = x

    114/2 = x

    57 = x < = = = when complete, the highway will be 57 miles
