A ladder that is 15 feet long is leaned against a building such that it makes a 52 angle with the level ground. What height to the nearest tenth of a foot does the ladder reach up the building

    The height will be found using the formula:

    sin θ=opposite/hypotenuse

    opposite = height h

    hypotenuse=length of the ladder

    thus

    sin 52=h/15

    thus

    h=15sin52

    h=11.82 ft~ 11.8 ft (to the nearest ft)
