The length of a flag is 1.5 times greater than its width. The length of the flag is 30in. Solve the equation 1.5w=30 to find the width of the flag.

    1.5w = 30

    first you divide both sides by 1.5 so you know what w is.

    this gets you to:

    w = 30/1.5

    w = 20 inches
