1. What are the mean, median, mode and range of the data set given the altitude of lakes in feet:

-12.-9.-14, - 39-49. - 49.-18, and - 43?

mean = -28.5. median=-29.1, mode = 49. range = 40

mean = -29.1. median = -49, mode = - 28.5. range = 41

mean = - 19. median=-29.1. mode = - 28.5. range = 41

mean = - 29.1. median = -28.5. mode = - 49. range = 10

    I did the math, and the answer's not in there.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Mean is the average of the data.

    -12 + - 9 + - 14 + - 39 + - 49 + - 49 + - 18 + - 43 = - 233 / 8 = 29.125 = 29.1 is the mean

    Median is the value in the middle. You have to arrange the numbers in ascending order first.

    -49, - 49, - 43, - 39, - 18, - 14, - 12, - 9

    Notice, the middle valued are - 39 & - 18. In this case, get its average.

    -39 + - 18 = - 57 / 2 = - 28.5 is the median

    Mode is the most frequent number in the data. So the answer is - 49.

    Range is the difference of largest number to the smallest number. (Take note that we are dealing with negative numbers.)

    -9 - - 49 = 40
