    I turned the numbers into a decimal making 3 1/4 = 3.25 and 2 1/2 = 2.50. 3.25 + 3.25 = 6.50. Then 3.25 divided by 2 = 1.75. Then add 6.50 + 1.75 = 8.25. The answer is 8.25.
