The base edge of the regular triangular pyramid is b=10 cm and altitude of the base hb ≈ 8.66 cm. The slant height of the pyramid is k=8 cm. Find: a Lateral area of the pyramid

    The lateral area is given by:

    A=l√[ (w/2) ²+h²]+w√[ (l/2) ²+h²]

    Given that the pyramid is regular, then the base is square, hence plugging in the values we get:

    A=10√[ (10/2) ²+8.66²]+10√[ (10/2) ²+8.66²]

    A=10 (9.9997799998) + 10 (9.9997799998)

    A~10 (10) + 10 (10)

    A~100+100

    A~200 cm²
