Which value of a would make the following statement true? 6 (2x + a) = 12x + 30

    Plugging in 5, we have:

    6 (2x + 5)

    = 6 (2x) + 6 (5)

    = 12x + 30

    So we have,

    12x + 30 = 12x + 30

    which is true!
