    Adjacent means connected to so you are looking for the width.

    Perimeter = 2 (length) + 2 (width)

    P = 2l + 2w

    46 = 2l + 2w

    l = 14

    46 = 2 (14) + 2w

    46 = 28 + 2w

    18 = 2w

    9 = w

    Width: 9 inches
