The greater of two consecutive even integers is six less than twice the smaller

    X would be the bigger number and the smaller would be x-2 since they are consecutive evens. X = 2x - 4 - 6

    Add like terms and subtract 2x from both sides. You get - x = - 10. Divide that by - 1 since you can't have a negative variable in your answer and you get x = 10. The other number is x-2 so the numbers are 10 and 8.
