Madden and Jenn both worked at the coffee shop today. Madden's total cups of coffee made is represented by f (x); and Jenn's total cups of coffee made is represented by g (x). Use the functions below to write a function that represents the total cups of coffee they made today.

f (x) = 7x - 4

g (x) = 5x + 1

9x + 5

9x - 3

12x + 5

The total number of cups of coffee is 12x - 3 ⇒ last answer

    Step-by-step explanation:

    - Madden and Jenn both worked at the coffee shop today

    - Madden's total cups of coffee made is represented by f (x) = 7x - 4

    - Jenn's total cups of coffee made is represented by g (x) = 5x + 1

    - We want to write a function represents the total cups of coffee they

    made together

∵ f (x) represents the number of cups of coffee that Madden made

    ∵ f (x) = 7x - 4

∵ g (x) represents the number of cups of coffee that Jenn made

    ∵ g (x) = 5x + 1

    - To find the total cups they made together we will add the two

    functions f (x) and g (x)

    ∵ f (x) + g (x) = (7x - 4) + (5x + 1)

    - Add like terms

    ∴ f (x) + g (x) = (7x + 5x) + (-4 + 1)

    ∴ f (x) + g (x) = 12x + (-3)

    -Remember (+) (-) = (-)

    ∴ f (x) + g (x) = 12x - 3

    * The total number of cups of coffee is 12x - 3
