First fold of a piece of paper produces two smaller pieces of paper

Second fold of the resulting pieces of paper produces 4 smaller pieces of paper.

Third fold of the resulting pieces of paper produces 8 smaller pieces of paper.

Thus, the five letter size pieces of paper folded three times produces 8 x 5 = 40 notes.

Thus, one notepad consists of 40 notes.

If someone wrote ten notes per day, then one notepad will last for 4 days.
