The sum of three numbers is 109. the third number is 2 times the second. the second number is 9 less than the first. what are the numbers?

    Let x = the first number

    Let x - 9 = the second number

    Let 2 (x - 9) = the third number

    Now we are told that:

    x + (x - 9) + 2 (x - 9) = 4x - 27 = 109

    This means that x = 34 - the first number

    25 = the second number

    50 = the third number
