Answer: x=2 and y=-3
Because:
Substitute the second equation for 2y into the first equation
3x + 9x - 24 = 0
12x - 24 = 0
12x = 24
x = 2
3x + 2y = 0
(3x2) + 2y = 0
6 + 2y = 0
2y = - 6
y = - 3
