A catering company is offered $650 to buy poultry for a party. The company can either buy turkey, which costs $1.40 a pound, or chicken, which costs $1.85 per pound. The client needs at least 400 pounds of meat. Which of the following systems correctly describe the possible amounts of chicken (c) and turkey (t) for this catering job?

    c=lb of chicken

    alrighty

    400lb meat

    c+t=400

    total amount of money is 650

    cost=amount times cost per u nit

    cost for chicken is c times 1.85 or 1.85c

    cost for turkey is t times 1.40 or 1.40t

    so the equations are

    c+t=400 and

    1.85c+1.4t=650
