In order to calculate how long it will take Jamie to finish painting the fence, you should divide the length of the fence by the rate at which Jamie paints. Thus, if the fence is 119.5 yards long and Jamie paints on average 4.78 yards per hour, we divide 119.5 by 4.78 and get the answer - 25 hours. We can double check our work by multiplying Jamie's painting rate by the time, so if Jamie paints 4.78 yards per hour for 25 hours, he will paint all 119.5 yards.
