    The Pythagorean theorem can be used to find the length (c) of the diagaonal given the two side lengths a and b.

    c² = a² + b²

    c² = (50 ft) ² (4² + 3²)

    c = (50 ft) √ (16+9) = 250 ft.

    Clare travels 250 ft when she rides across the lot diagonally.
