Group the first two terms together and group the last two terms.

the first group you can take out a - 2x^2, the second group you can take out a 3

    so - 2x^2 (4x+1) - 3 (4x+1)

    now take out the 4x+1, you have (-2x^2-3) (4x+1) or - (2x^2+3) (4x+1)

    -8x³-2x²-12x-3

Separate terms into groups of two joined by +

    (-8x³ - 2x²) + (-12x - 3)

Factor out the GCF but in each case you will factor out a negative with the GCF

    -2x² (4x + 1) - 3 (4x + 1)

    Using the distributive property concept a (b + c) = ab + ac you can pull out (4x + 1)

    (4x + 1) (-2x² - 3) is your answer
